It’s the end of the road, we will really miss being a part of this community.

Unfortunately we have had to face the inevitable. We lost significant members of the team when our purchase option was denied and there was not going to be a lease renewal–and we were already short staffed. We tried our best to push forward, but with the labor shortage that has hit North Idaho, we could not fill enough of the positions, and with the owners working in the business 7 days a week and not on the business–it’s just not sustainable. Without enough employees to run daily operations, there was not enough time and energy left in the day to work on the partnership and cooperative to purchase the property. Hopefully with some time off, we can refocus on preserving a market for the future, but the present must end.

Saturday July 10, 2021, will be Davis Market & Cafe’s last day. Friday the 9th will be the last day of the restaurant. If you want to enjoy a last breakfast or lunch here at the store, today and tomorrow (thursday and friday the 8th and 9th) are the last two days of the cafe. We have live music Friday from 5-7 with Pamela Jean, which is a great show. Saturday the store will be open, everything that’s left will be on sale, we’ll have drinks and coffee and some sandwiches and baked goods, plus live music with an awesome band, Ponderay Paradox, from 5-7pm. We hope to see you there to celebrate 3 years of being your local store in Hope.

This is not how we envisioned the end here in Hope. And hopefully this is not the end to our vision. We are looking into other locations and revising our business model to weather through storms like this a little better. But we need some time to think and pivot, and, most importantly, to spend some time as a family and recover. This has been an incredible 3 years and we are SO SO grateful. Thank you for everything.

You will be deeply and surely missed. You were an asset to the community not only for the business but as a friend and kind family. Often times in life an unexpected detour ends up being an unexpected blessing. We wish you blessings in your new endeavor. There will be one.
